June 1975

That picture could be from no other decade than the 1970s – when else would one photo contain two men wearing purple flared trousers?

June 1975 was the last time Mum was in England. We’re all standing in front of one of the lions at the base of Nelson’s Column in London’s Trafalgar Square. Mum is the lady in the middle and I’m the blond boy being held by my Dad. I think my trousers are purple flares as well!

This Friday I’ll be picking Mum up at Heathrow airport – more than thirty-five years after this photo was taken.

  10. What a gorgeous boy you were, and the Seventiesness of the tableau is fabulous – everybody in flares except your lovely mother.
    I had flares in 1971 thru to 75. groovy.
    I know your Mum will have a wonderful time – is she bringing Vegemite?

    • Luckily Vegemite is readily available in the local supermarkets.
