There’s a saying about that isn’t there? These cherries are delicious – bought them yesterday from Mary and Sam the greengrocers. They have been married for 49 years. Sam says that the secret is “give and take”, plus Mary’s cooking means he never strayed.
Last night’s dinner at The French Corner was great. We started with the Assiette Charcutiere (the chorizo was particulary tasty), then Mark had the Wild Boar and I had the Eye Fillet with the best tasting Bernaise sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service from Daniel and his team was attentive. We toasted our ten years with some NV Vincent d’Astrée Brut from Champagne. We also had a great bottle of red from Gippsland called Narkoojee (2005). We decided to skip the cheese chariot in favour of the Tatin de Poire (me) and Croustade de Coing avec sa Crème Anglaise (Poached quince crumble with a cream Anglaise – Mark). Coffee and dessert wine – 2005 Château de Suberne from Loupiac. Delish!
Holidays have begun and tomorrow I plan to drop my car off for its service and then take a train into the city for the Salvador Dali exhibition. If there’s time I really want to get across to the John Brack exhibition too, so I’ll see how I go. I have spent this morning cleaning the intake vent for the central heating as it was getting a bit clogged with cat fur and dust. This was followed by the cleaning of the filter of the ducted vaccum. I wonder what Newnes Home Management would say about my neglect of the filters?
