If you’re enjoying my Newnes Home Management series, you’ll probably like It Came From the 1971 Sears Catalogue. Linda has scanned and uploaded an entire Sears Catalogue and it’s the most hilarious thing ever. I have spent hours on that site and I will never match some of the guffaws I have had from her running commentary.
What’s been happening? Mark has a cold (he swears it’s not the flu…but he caught it on the plane…). We just came back from our Saturday walk to breakfast at the cafe down the road, as well as the weekly greengrocer and chemist run. It was cold out there this morning! The washing is swooshing and tumbling away in the machine. Doris is sleeping on the back of the couch. Orlando has just finished warming his haunches by sitting on the central heating vent next to me. Mark is coughing but doesn’t have a temperature (it’s actually low…is that a problem?). iTunes is on Party Shuffle as I type: Sunset Boulevard has just started playing. The sun is breaking through and shining through this window.
Last night I couldn’t manage watching the third hour of “Australia”. I have already Tweeted enough about it!
Tomorrow I’m going in to work to move into my new office – it doesn’t have a window and it’s next to the men’s toilets, but it’s still an office rather than a desk in the staff room. There’s a bit of cleaning and reorganising to do in there. I’ll miss my buddies in Staff Room 1 though, especially Frogdancer, but it’s only for six months. I also have marking to do and reports to write, plus my Year 12 students are suddenly starting to email me with questions about Monday’s assessment task (they’ve only had five weeks to prepare!). Only four weeks until the end of term.
Elaine Page is just starting on Don’t Cry For Me Argentina…have a nice weekend everybody! And don’t leave any windows open:

I must be the only person in the country that enjoyed ‘Australia’! I love a thin fable!

So it’s true. You’d rather leave happy happy staffroom 1 for a windowless office that smells like Chisa.
(Or is that the aroma from the men’s toilets wafting in??)
Only kidding (I devoutly hope.) Good luck in the new job. Hopefully the new guy who’ll be sitting at your desk will be fun. (But will he be able to help keep me organised? Somehow I doubt it…)

The Best Friend collects old sears catalogs. They are splendid (he says) to watch how fashions evolve.
I think old clothes humorous how once upon a time we thought these so chic.
