Sunday May 10

We caught up with our friends Louise and John last night at The Italian at 101 Collins Street, which has a modern and sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant is located at the back of the iconic Melbourne building, you enter through revolvingĀ  doors on Flinders Lane and then take the glass elevator to the next level. The restaurant is in a vast, lofty narrow space – an impressive place to dine. Dinner was excellent – I started with the Venetian salami with artichoke, followed by beef fillet with potato croquette and black pepper sauce – delicious. For dessert I had a beautiful chocolate fondant and vanilla bean ice cream. Everyone else’s food looked great too – Mark’s calamari was the best I’ve ever tasted. We got home late and Orlando was peering out of the front window anxious about his supper and none-too-pleased that he’d been kept waiting.

It’s Mother’s Day today – Happy Mother’s Day Mum!

Why don’t they dress kids like that any more? I love those knee high socks! Who needs natural fibres? Nothing breathes like polyester. The shoes I’m wearing there have actually been bronzed and my mum still has one. The other one has been lost – we think auntie Elsie might have it as it was sent to my nan many years ago.
